Arleen is Skylemar’s second generation owner and director. Her father, Lee Horowitz, co-founded Camp Skylemar in 1948. Arleen grew up at Skylemar, finding that much of who she was revolved around the values and ideals that made the Skylemar community. She started working for camp as soon as she could. While working in the office one summer, she would meet a then-counselor named Shep. The two would then fall in love, have a family, and raise their children within the Skylemar community. Arleen now has many years of experience as Camp Skylemar’s owner and director. You’ll see Arleen on the tennis courts, in the serving lines, walking the dogs, or in her office at Skylemar. She makes just about everything happen at camp. Arleen is usually the head communicator with parents leading up to, and during the camp season. Most notably of which, she authors a nightly blog that chronicles each day at Skylemar so that loved ones at home may follow along with all the wonders that happen in an 04055 summer!
